Why is this Haggadah different from other Haggadahs?

  • Gender-inclusive, tradition-inclusive liturgies.
  • Engaging, in-depth discussions and stories of both Passover and Palestinian traditions.
  • Visions of peace, both two-state and one-state – including a federation of regions.
  • 20 songs, complete with key.
  • Jewish contributors ranging from secular to Haredi and including both Ashkenazim.ot and Mizrahim.ot.
  • Palestinian contributors from throughout the region and beyond.

How should it be used?

The Peace Haggadah can be used to conduct a Peace Seder.

Peace Seders are intended to be held around Passover. They may be public or private, large or small, online or in-person, and for Jewish or interfaith groups. The Peace Haggadah‘s diverse content is designed to inspire thought-provoking discussion.

The Peace Haggadah commentaries may also be read on their own year-round, as a guide to resolving conflicts by understanding the other half of the coin.

Peace Seders

Annual events organized by Unity is Strength, or by you!

How will this help?

The seder is a key opportunity to reach a distinct cross-section of Diaspora Jews and others close to them. According to a Pew survey, only 23% of American Jews attend religious services monthly, yet 70% attend a seder each year. More than 40% of the world’s Jews are American Jews, making the American Jewish population comparable in size to Israel’s Jewish population. The Peace Seders connect attendees across cultural and political divides, introducing them to diverse perspectives and visions of peace.

Our Peace Seders

Unity is Strength’s annual Peace Seders are open to the public, typically virtual or hybrid, and co-led with other groups. They attract dozens of participants of many faiths from around the world. Some are new to the Israel-Palestine political dynamic. Others are prominent scholars and leaders.

This [Peace Seder] has been an amazing experience. Thank you so much to everyone who worked on this—incredible, transformative work!”
